Chinese actress Bai Baihe and her husband, singer Chen Yufan, have been divorced since 2015, the singer admitted. He made the admission following a cheating report that hit Bai Baihe.

Bai Baihe, star of “Monster Hunt,” was spotted with a young male model in Thailand. Photos and video indicated the two were intimate, a Chinese tabloid reporter wrote. Following the report, netizens accused the actress of engaging in an extramarital affair.

Protecting Son

Chen Yufan issued a video statement on Sunday to clarify that he and Bai Baihe, who were married in 2008, have been divorced since 2015 but they kept it private to protect their son whom the two are raising jointly. The singer said, “The exposure has caused great harm to my family and child, and also hurt Bai Baihe deeply. So now, I have come forward to tell the truth and hope you can give us more space, understanding and tolerance.”

Chen Yufan, in a post on Wechat on April 15, was angry at the accusation and vowed to destroy the person who destroyed his family. As part of his video statement, the singer said he would quit showbiz forever for the sake of his family and to take care of their son.

Quits Singing Show

Bai Baihe has been silent since the news came out, but China.org reported that she cried very hard when she learned of the report and quit from a popular TV singing show on Saturday.

She was last seen in the movie “The Missing” which opened on April 1. Her role is that of a policewoman whose child was kidnapped and asked help from her contacts in the underworld to find the child. The film had earned $8.5 million since it opened and performed better than “Beauty and the Beast” in China, Asia Times reported.
