Marvel's Inhumans originally fought the X-Men in the comics.

Marvel is introducing more characters to TV, this time the superheroes are tailor-made for a comedy series. The upcoming Marvel series is titled "New Warriors" and will premiere on Freeform pretty soon.

"New Warriors" will aim at a younger audience. It tells the story of a group of teenage superheroes that go through normal problems teenagers face while they deal with their emerging powers and responsibilities, Screen Rant reported. The group is said to be at the opposite end of the Avengers in that they want to make a difference in the world although they haven't fully tapped their powers and aren't considered "super" yet.

The series is still at its early stage of development. For now, there's still no word as to the "New Warriors" showrunner, but it is anticipated that "Scrubs" showrunner Kevin Biegel will secure the position. Biegel will also executive produce "New Warriors" together with Marvel's head of TV Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, "New Warriors" is Marvel's first 30-minute live-action comedy series. The show will run for 10 episodes in 2018, joining another Marvel title, "Cloak and Dagger," on Freeform.

Leading the "New Warriors" pack is fan favorite Squirrel Girl, a.k.a. Doreen Green. She is described as "tough, optimistic and a natural leader." She also possesses powers akin to the abilities of a squirrel wherein she knows acrobatics and can communicate with squirrels.

No casting news for Squirrel Girl/Doreen Girl has been confirmed yet, but "Pitch Perfect" star Anna Kendrick and "Stranger Things" fan-favorite Shannon Purser are said to have attached their names for consideration.

"Freeform's mission is to deliver incredible content to young adults and Marvel Television seamlessly aligns with that mission," Kate Burke, Freeform executive VP for programming and development, said.

"New Warriors" is considered a first for Marvel especially with respect to its format, content, and desired demographic. Marvel has mostly focused on more serious shows such as "Daredevil," "Jessica Jones," "Luke Cage" and "Iron Fist" on Netflix and "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." on ABC.

Meanwhile, "Cloak and Dagger" is also another Marvel show to watch out for, and it focuses on the love story of its two lead characters.
