‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’: Meet the new Guardians team members expected to appear in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’

Actors Chris Pratt (L) and Yondu (Michael Rooker) from Marvel Studios’ 'Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2” attend the San Diego Comic-Con International 2016 Marvel Panel in Hall H on July 23, 2016 in San Diego, California

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" saw the expansion of the original quintet comprising of Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax the Destroyer, Rocket Raccoon and Groot. The core team is still doing a pretty good job at protecting the universe, but they learn much later that they're going to need an extra set of hands when facing a much bigger foe (like a Celestial for instance).

Here are some new members of the Guardians of the Galaxy, which we might see more of in the next film. (Spoiler alert!)

Kraglin

Sean Gunn's Kraglin is the loyal right-hand man of Yondu, portrayed by Michael Rooker. In "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2," Kraglin complains about how Yondu seems to have a soft spot for Chris Pratt's Star-Lord, and his complaints later lead to the entire fleet having a mutiny. Realizing that he was wrong, he apologizes to Yondu and fights by his side, defeating all those who went against Yondu and reclaiming their ship.

Yondu dies in order to save Star-Lord. This leaves Kraglin without a friend in the galaxy. However, Star-Lord takes him in and asks him to join the Guardians of the Galaxy. He also gives him Yondu's Yaka Arrow, and in one of the post-credits scene Yondu is seen practicing with it.

Mantis

Mantis, portrayed by Pom Klementieff, is introduced as Ego's assistant. She was still young when Ego took her in so she has no memory of her real family and where she came from. Because she's only known Ego her entire life, she doesn't know how to interact with people, which is seen with how she reacts to the Guardians.

Mantis has strong morals and leans towards the good. Knowing that Ego is a bad person, she warns the Guardians and helps them defeat him. Mantis later shows that she wants to become an ally of the Guardians, and indeed she does become part of the team.

Nebula

As a trained assassin, Nebula, played by Karen Gillan, has always been a lone wolf and not one to exchange niceties with anyone. In the sequel, the audience will see a softer side Nebula as she and Gamora (Zoe Saldana) learn to patch up their differences and help one another. Nebula also helps in defeating Ego and getting everyone to safety.

Although Gamora convinces Nebula to join the team, Nebula leaves shortly after Yondu's funeral. She plans to track down Thanos and eliminate him. But with everything that has happened, it is presumed that Nebula will readily return if her sister needs help.

Adam Warlock?

In one of the five post-credits scene in "GOTG 2," Ayesha (Elizabeth Debicki) is fuming mad after she and her people fail to defeat the Guardians. She vows revenge and reveals her ultimate weapon, whom she calls "Adam."

According to Variety, Adam is short for Adam Warlock, a being who is super strong and doesn't need to eat or drink. In the comic books, he is a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy. It is possible that he will first be introduced as a villain, who will later become an ally to Peter Quill and the rest.

Meanwhile, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" currently has $138 million in the box office, Deadline reported.
