The DCEU has announced another interesting addition to its growing list of movie titles, and it's none other than "Justice League Dark." The film, which will be helmed by Doug Liman, promises to tackle some of the more supernatural aspects of the DC universe.
"Justice League Dark" is expected to introduce lesser-known heroes in DC's stable, but the film is said to be more intimate and personal compared to other DCEU movies. "I think people will be surprised how character driven and how intimate Justice League Dark is," Liman tells Cinema Blend. "We've found a way to do something that's actually really personal and small, and that's my goal."
He teased that he has something amazing planned up for John Constantine in "Justice League Dark." Moreover, Liman revealed that "Justice League Dark" will have real horror elements in it.
"I love putting people in crazy situations. For John Constantine, we have an amazing set-up for him for 'Justice League Dark' that's really human," Liman revealed.
Liman's latest comments echoes his previous statement about going for an unconventional approach to comic book movies by giving more character-driven storylines, as opposed to it being all explosions and actions.
"I'm never going to do something that's straight forward, but I'm not going to do something campy either. I have a take on it that isn't like anything else out there. At the end of the day I make character driven movies," Liman explained. Speaking to Collider, Liman also said that he feels a real connection to "Justice League Dark."
"Justice League Dark" will have a lineup featuring John Cosntantine, Swamp Thing, Deadman, Zatanna and Etrigan the Demon.
So far, no release date and production date has been announced for "Justice League Dark."
Meanwhile, Liman is also set to work on "Edge of Tomorrow 2," the sequel to the 2014 sci-fi film starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt. The film is said to be "a sequel that's a prequel," which hints that Blunt's character, Rita Vrataski, is definitely back despite having died in the first film. Filming for "Edge of Tomorrow 2" is expected to begin once Cruise and Blunt wraps up their respective filming schedules.
