SM Entertainment Release Official Statement About Additional Lawsuits Against Slanderous Commenters Targeting K-Pop Singer Taeyeon

South Korean multinational company SM Entertainment has released an official statement on November 9 related to the additional lawsuits they have made against malicious commenters, who are trying to target Girls' Generation member Taeyeon.

The agency stated that they are continuously collecting information regarding online illegal activities to protect Taeyeon. SM Entertainment is making complaint submissions through their legal representatives. Consequently, the court and prosecutors have fined whoever has posted malicious and groundless things about the singer, for the violation of the law on defamation and spreading rumors.

SM Entertainment further added that slanderous posts and malicious accusations about Taeyeon are still being made on portal sites, SNS, YouTube, and online communities in spite of the measures.

The agency reinstated that such acts defame an individual's character and lead the artist to suffer mentally, and hence they are obvious criminal acts.

The entertainment company will conduct legal intensive monitoring and go ahead with complaints in order to reply to the recent hike in illegal activities. They also asked fans to send them proof of such illegal activities on their email id by November 17.

At present, the agency knows that fans are organizing and collecting the information, which they will scrutinize carefully and collect the evidence sent by fans. They will combine the evidence with that, which they have already gathered, to go ahead with the lawsuit. SM Entertainment stated that they will notify fans of the legal proceedings and the resolved matters as they happen.

The South Korean company also instructed fans to exclude documents that they have already sent because it will lead to duplication risk. Rather, they should email the additional documents.

The company further stated that they will go on actively monitoring and taking legal action to safeguard their artists, and will fight back with strict measures to check different illegal activities and spread the news to the fans of the artists.

Taeyeon, the lead singer of the K-pop girl group Girls' Generation, has been in the news since her debut, for not only being popular but for being attacked time and again by netizens. From receiving bad reviews that lead to mental anguish to negative comments on her social media posts to online rumors about her participating in real estate speculation, the singer somehow finds herself in the line of fire.
