Suspect in Mesa Shooting Spree

A man who is a suspect in the killing of one person and the injury of five others in a shooting spree was arrested in Arizona on Wednesday, police told AZCentral.com.

CBS News reports that Mesa Detective Esteban Flores told the reporters was caught before 12:30 PM when he was spotted by the SWAT team on the balcony of an unoccupied condo in Mesa. The police have not named the suspect yet.

Flores said that one person was killed in the shooting Wednesday morning, while the one of the victims was critically wounded.

According to Washington Post, the shooting rooted from an argument inside a room at the Tri-City Inn, a motel in the area.

The authorities stated that they have not identified the motive of the shooting yet. They said they only knew that there was some kind of argument at the first location, but they have no motive as of the moment.

The suspect was tased by the police and he eventually surrendered. He was brought to a waiting vehicle, wearing a white hazardous-materials suit, with his handcuffed hands in black gloves in order to preserve whatever evidence there is on his clothing and body.

Flores said that the police was notified about a shooting incident at the Tri-City Motel at around 8:40 AM. Upon the arrival of the authorities, one man and two women were shot at the location. The man died at the scene while the two women were immediately taken to the nearest hospital.

The gunman was searched by the police for about four hours. Times-Picayune reported that he escaped to a restaurant run by the East valley Institute of Technology and there he nicked a gray Honda Accord. During the run, Flores said an adult male student was shot in the shoulder just outside the restaurant.

From the restaurant, the suspect went to an apartment complex where he attempted a home invasion, where he shot and wounded another man, who is in a stable condition and said will survive. He then went to next apartment complex where he shot another man, who is said to be in a critical condition as of now.
