Director James Wan Speaks His Thoughts On ‘The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Polergeist’ And A Possible Engagement To DC Cinematic Universe

The sequel of the popular horror film "The Conjuring" will be back to the big screen next year entitled, "The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist." 

James Wan has helmed several films of the horror genre such as "Saw", "Insidious", and "Dead Silence." In Collider, the director expressed his excitement on the upcoming horror sequel at the press junket for "Fast and Furious 7."

He said that he on the process of working on the film script and it is "very exciting" to continue the story of Ed and Lorraine Warren. He is creating "The Conjuring 2" in order to nurture its predecessor.

The first "The Conjuring" film has become immensely popular as it was based on the true story. It centers on paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren as they come to assist the Perron family, who are increasingly disturbed in their residence in Rhode Island year 1971.

After the release of last July 19, 2013, it has grossed an estimate of $318 million worldwide.

Meanwhile, in "The Conjuring 2", Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmija will be reprising their roles as Ed and Lorraine Warren, respectively. The film will center on the case of "The Enfiled Poltergeist", which took place in the 1970s England.

With Wan as the film director, Carey Hayes, Chad Hayes, and David Johnson will be serving as co-writers. Rob Cowan, Tony DeRosa-Grund, Walter Hamada, Dave Neustadter, and Peter Safran are the film co-producers.

There are no announced details yet with regard to the cast and the plot, but production of the upcoming horror film is to commence later this year.

"The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist" is slated to premiere in theaters on Jun. 10, 2016.
