Google is reportedly planning to make a television show about its mobile video game "Ingress."

The tech giant and its in-house video game development studio Niantic Labs is collaborating with the Sean Daniel Company, who is responsible for "The Mummy" franchise, in planning how Google's augmented reality game will be shown on television.

"Ingress" is a sci-fi-themed mobile game available on Android and iOS devices. Players need to actually travel in the real world to progress in the game, capturing "portals" for the faction they chose to gain experience for leveling up.

Google launched the video game in closed beta exclusively for Android users in the later part of 2012. "Ingress" was then made available to the public in December 2013.

Apple users received the iOS version of the video game in July 2014 and Google also recently launched "Ingress" for its Android Wear operating system. To date, over 10 million users have downloaded the video game, according to Engadget.

Several reports claim that the TV show would revolve around the Google video game's fictional universe, where players pose as real world operatives.

Flint Dille, the creative lead for "Ingress," is said to be heading the development for the show, according to Slash Gear.

In addition to the TV show, a convention is also rumored to be in the works for the AR video game.

The reports also say that no TV networks have been contacted yet, but it is expected that both streaming services and traditional networks will be approached.

Google did not make any comment regarding the rumored "Ingress" TV show.
