Just one day after Zayn Malik officially announced he had left One Direction, the 22-year-old broke his silence.
"I'm feeling quite interesting. Let's say that," Malik told The Sun. "I can't do this anymore."
Malik revealed to the pub;ication that although the past few days were "crazy and wild and a bit mad," he has never felt more in control in his life and he feels like he is doing what is right by himself and right by the One Directions boys.
"So I feel good," Malik said adding that he wants to be himself "for a bit" and he is "just going to write and relax and chill."
About his decision to leave One Direction, Malik explained that he did try to do something that he was not happy doing for a while "for the sake of maybe other people's happiness and that was mainly the fans."
"I only ever tried to do it for the fans, and it was only ever for them," Malik emphasized.
On the other hand, Perrie Edwards' fiancé is only upset because he feels like he may have let the One Direction fans down in some sort of way, which is the main thing that he does not want to happen.
For Malik, he has not turned his back on the One Direction fans. Instead, he just cannot do stay in the band anymore because it is not real to him. He also made it clear that he was not at odds with band members Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan.
Meanwhile, Tomlinson is said to be looking for a girl band to mentor, which sparks rumors that he might leave One Direction, too, following Malik, according to Mirror.
