Apostle Paul

While actor Hugh Jackman teases his last stand as "Wolverine," fans will see the actor in another film - "Apostle Paul."

Warner Bros. is developing the faith-based project involving the actor and other A-list stars, as per Deadline. The "Wolverine" actor will play the role of Paul the Apostle, initially known as Saul of Tarsus.

Paul preached the word of God to the first-century nation and is remarkably viewed as one of the most important icons of the Apostolic era. The apostle, founded an array of churches in both Asia Minor and Europe during the mid-30s to the mid-50s. He also took advantage of his status as a Jew and a Roman citizen to cover both Jewish and Roman audiences in his teachings.

As per The Guardian, the actor previously attended the international School of Practical Philosophy and is also a student of transcendental meditation. For Jackman, he views the evangelical church as limiting while the School of Practical Philosophy tends to deal with situations calmly and diplomatically. He also believes that while there are many kinds of writing, the truth will remain true and will be the same, either those written in the Bible or in other literature, such as Shakesperean writings.

"There is an essential truth. And we are limitless," he said.

Along with Jackman, "Apostle Paul" will also star Jennifer Todd and Chris Clarke, who assisted in the commencement of the film.

Matt Damon and Ben Affleck will also be the film producers. Matt Cook is set to pen the screenplay. Damon and Affleck appeared as fallen angels in Kevin Simth's 1999 film "Dogma," which maddened some members of the Christian community. "Dogma" is a satire on Roman Catholicism and was considered offensive by the United States Catholic League due to its blasphemous nature.

Jackman will play Blackbeard in Joe Wright's "Pan" and is to reprise his mutant character in "The Wolverine 3", which is slated to premiere on Mar. 3, 2017. Meanwhile, there is no official announcement yet as per the plot focus and exact premiere date.
