Hugh Jackman, "The Wolverine" star, posted an Instagram picture of his fists showing one with the steel claws and the other without on Saturday with a caption "Wolverine ...One Last Time."

The Instagram photo was followed up by Director James Mangold confirming that indeed Jackman will be playing "The Wolverine" one last time on 2017.

Jackman played the Wolverine character since 2000 and will leave the part as he finishes his third wolverine movie two years from now, The Verge reported.

The 46-year-old actor has been playing the role since the original and has been seen in all of the "X-Men" movies including the previous year's "X-Men: Days of Future Past." The character was immortal.

The controversial Instagram post got the social media buzzing over what does the post actually meant. Reports said that the Australian actor was referring to a follow up film to that of 2013's individual movie "The Wolverine," explained CBS News.

Jackman himself has been hinting for a while that his role in the "X-Men" franchise is getting close to its end. He can feel that once he gets another standalone movie as "The Wolverine," it will possibly be the last time to do it.

"If I did another one I'm 99.9 percent sure it would be the last, so that will inform what it is for me," Jackman disclosed.

On a different note, the "X-Men" saga will continue on the big screen with the coming soon film, "X-Men: Apocalypse" which will be out on cinemas on May 2016.
