Magnificent Seven

After the announcement of the film "The Magnificent Seven," actor Luke Grimes is in now talks to become part of the cast.

Grimes enticed the attention of A-list film helmers such as Clint Eastwood for "American Sniper" (2014) as well as Sam Taylor-Johnson in 2015's "Fifty Shades of Grey," as per Variety.

The actor is also known for his roles in films such as "All the Boys Love Mandy Lane" (2006), "Assassination of a High School President" (2008), and "Taken 2" (2012).  His other projects for this year include "Shangri-La Suite," "Freeheld," and "Forever."

The film is assumed to be placed on a drift of making uncommon box office hits, in spite of the timing of its release, as per Venture Capital Post. It has been added that January and February are usually viewed as lame season for blockbusters, unlike summer.

However, the film remake can follow the footsteps of Tim Story's "Ride Along" and Clint Eastwood's "American Sniper" for their success last year.

John Struges piloted "The Magnificent Seven" in the 1960s as an Old West-style remake of Akira Kurosawa's Japanese film "Seven Samurai."  Struges' film centered an troubled Mexican farmer village, which brought seven gunfighters together to help preserve their homes. It starred Yul Brynner, Eli Wallach, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, Robert Vaughn, James Coburn, and Horst Buchholz.

The modern film adaptation will feature a massive star power including Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, Haley Bennett, and Vincent D'Onofrio.

Director Fuqua is set to helm the film, together with Roger Birnbaum and Todd Black as co-producers. John Lee Hancock and Nic Pizzolatto are set to pen the script. Sony will be distributing the film while MGM will oversee the production. Filming is to commence within the next month once the cast has been finalized.

"The Magnificent Seven" is set to hit theaters on Jan. 13, 2017.
