Central Character Links ‘Rings’ To Its Predecessors 'The Ring,' 'The Ring 2'

Fans will be seeing a sequel to the horror films "The Ring" and "The Ring 2." The upcoming sequel is entitled "Rings." The films will be linked by one character from the previous installments.

"Rings" will serve as a sequel to the events that took place in Gore Verbinki's "The Ring" and Hideo Nakata's "The Ring Two" (2005). It is reported that the film will link "Rings" to its predecessors through a character, who is common in the previous films, as per Cinema Blend.

Spoilers have been revealed by Shocktillyoudrop. The character, who is communal to both "The Ring" and "The Ring Two" is Aidan Keller. Aiden, who was played by David Dorfman, is the son of Rachell Keller, played by Naomi Watts. Aiden was a main character on both films, but it is still unknown if Dorfman will be back to reprise his role as the young protagonist. However, fans will see Aidan as an adult in the upcoming film.

The film will star Aimee Teegarden, Matilda Anna Ingird Lutz, and Alex Roe. However, there is no official announcement yet as per the roles they are going to play, except Roe, who will be playing Holt.

Teegarden appeared in "Hannah Montana" (2006), "CSI: Miami" (2009), "Call of the Wild" (2009), "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" (2010), "Friday Night Lights" (2006), "Aim High" (2011), and "Star-Crossed" (2014). Aside from "Rings", her other project for this year is "My Bakery in Brooklyn."

Lutz is known in her roles in "Crossing Lines" and "The Fifth Wheel" in 2013. She was also seen in "Somewhere Beautiful" and "Fuoriclasse" last year. Aside from the horror film sequel, the actress also landed a role in her other project "Mi chiamo Maya."

Actor Roe has landed various roles in several television series such as "The Fugitives" (2005), "Clatterford" (2009), "The Cut" (2010), "Holby City" (2011), "Doctors" (2011), "Hollyoaks" (2011), "The Jury" (2011), and "Unstrung" (2014). He is also to appear in the film "The 5th Wave" next year.

F. Javier Gutierrez is set to helm the film, along with Doug Davison, Guillermo del Toro, Neal Edelstein, Ry Lee, Laurie MacDonald, John Powers Middleton, Walter Parkes, Amy Sayres, and J.C. Sprink as co-producers. Jacob Aaron Estes, Akiva Goldsman, David Loucka, and Koji Suzuki are set to pen thescript. Principal photography commenced on Mar. 23 in Atlanta.

The horror film will be produced by Dreamworks, Benderspink, Paramount Pictures, and Vertigo Entertainment and will be distributed by Paramount Pictures.

"Rings" is slated to premiere on Nov. 13.
