First-ever 4K Slow-Mo Footage

Brain Farm, a team of filmmakers, wanted the best aerial drone footage. So, they did what they had to do: combine an Aerigon drone and the Phantom Flex4K high-speed digital camera.

The team said that it would be either the "most technologically advanced drone flight of all time" or just an unfortunate "quarter million dollar crash."

What made it seemingly impossible is that the Aerigon drone cannot carry the bulky Flex4K camera weighing at 14 pounds, and that is just the body alone.

In order to do so, Brain Farm hacked the $50,000 drone with the help of Intuitive Aerial, a Swedish drone maker famous for its Black Armored Drone.

The drone's power output was significantly increased up to 40 percent for it to handle the heavy and fully-rigged $100,000 Phantom Flex4K.

Fortunately, the $250,000 drone and 4K camera rig flew without any problems. Brain Farm also managed to capture amazingly detailed car and mud splashes at 1,000 frames per second.

It is being touted as the world's first-ever Ultra High-Definition super slow motion footage from a drone.

YouTube's new support for 4K videos made it possible for the drone footage to be fully enjoyed by users across the globe. To date, Brain Farm's video already has more than 207,000 views and over 1,200 likes. (Watch video here)

Some YouTube viewers said that the shots can be done using a crane, but others are quick to defend, saying that the 4K and drone setup is ideal for isolated areas where a crane is not available.

"Five years, I've been dreaming of this. That was insane," said Brain Farm CEO and Director Curt Morgan after they viewed the initial drone footage.
