Asif Kapadia has hit the documentary mode yet again by directing "Amy: The Girl behind the Name", a documentary based on the life of the pop star Amy Winehouse. Her family supports this endeavor and has praised the entire team for the sensitive and honest display of Winehouse's story without any effort to sensationalize. They have also remarked as the documentary being a tribute to Amy's career.

After the success of "Senna", the much acclaimed documentary based on the life of the Brazilian Formula 1 racer, Ayrton Senna which went on to win two BAFTA awards, Asif Kapadia had been on cloud nine.

The first teaser features Winehouse in an interview footage remarking her skepticism about being famous. She goes on to add about her inability to handle such pressure which is enough to make her go mad. This is ironic according to Variety considering the fact that Winehouse died due to alcohol poisoning in 2011 at the tender age of 27.

Moreover, the movie is all set to feature previously unseen from the six time Grammy Award winner's early career wherein she talks about the birth of her music career and the direction to which she was being headed to. As reported by CNN Philippines the British pop star was famous for her bluesy voice, bouffant hairdo and innumerable tattoos.

It is unfortunate to note that just when her career was taking off she was embraced by the cold arms of death after having struggled with drugs and alcohol for a long time. The movie is all set to release on July 3 across UK, marking the fourth death anniversary of Winehouse. However, no date for release in US has been slated yet.
