The emerging and now lucrative music streaming industry is beginning to experience its own competition in terms of total business dominance as Apple plans to offer its own streaming service through Beats Music
Apple has just found the secret weapon that could possibly propel its service on top of everybody else, BGR reported. People close to the company said that Apple is currently in talks with British group Florence and the Machine in hopes of scoring exclusive rights to the group's upcoming album which is set to be released in June.
On top of this, Apple executives are also trying to strike an exclusive deal with Taylor Swift who previously pulled her smash album "1989" out of Spotify. Swift claimed that Spotify does not properly compensate artists.
Apple's plan is to lure artists into signing an exclusive deal with its streaming service in order to lure these artists' fan base. This tactic has received fair success through U2's "Songs of Innocence" album.
This new idea of attracting users through exclusive content has yet to prove mainstream success. Jay-Z's own music streaming service called Tidal is slowly adapting this strategy and has started courting other artist into signing exclusive deals. Tidal revealed that it will have exclusive streaming rights for artists like Daft Punk, Rihanna, Arcade Fire and Kanye West, according to Rolling Stone.
On Apple's side, Nine Inch Nails front man Trent Reznor is reported to head Beats Music. This is part of Apple's $3 billion deal to acquire Beats Music. The service is expected to be launched later this year and many tech analysts predict that it will be integrated to iOS when Apple rolls out its latest operating system update.
