Sharp just revealed a new device that sports a gorgeous 4K display with highest pixels per inch than any other device in the market today.

The upcoming 4K IGZO smartphone designed by Sharp has a 5.5-inch display. While the screen size is at par with other phones available in the market, it is the resolution that sets it way apart from its competitors.

The 2160 x 3840 pixels is something unheard of in such a tiny device yielding to 806 pixels per inch. This offered the same resolution with 4K television , according to Pocket Lint.

On the other end, Samsung is planning to launch a smartphone with 4K resolution before the end of 2015. It is not clear as to how these companies plan to help customers find the difference with their naked eye on such a tiny screen.

Compared to the conventional 1080p HD resolution, 2K is a small upgrade because users are unable to tell the difference in most cases. The visuals on a 4K television that measures at least 55 inches or more is significant but there is a lack of 4K content available in the market which limits users to using 1080p videos on UHD televisions.

Bringing the same technology to a 5.5-inch cramped display seems like an overkill but Sharp is determined and the IGZO phones are getting launched for sure. Samsung will follow suit with their Galaxy Note 5 phone. The higher resolution could also pave way for virtual reality experience on smartphones, Android Central stated.
