Sony has a tradition of introducing some of their exclusive characters into other video game titles. Kratos, the lead of the "God of War" games is now going to make an appearance in a popular 8-bit title.
"Shovel Knight" is a favorite game among retro lovers and the indie title gained so much reputation on Windows platform that it found a way to get launched on Nintendo's 3DS consoles. The interest level was high which prompted Sony to join the bandwagon and the company is all set to launch the title on their Playstation consoles.
The title is going to get launched on Playstation 3, Playstation 4 and PS Vita consoles on April 21. While the entire gameplay content including levels and characters will be the same as other versions, Sony has made an exclusive deal with the developers to add Kratos into the game.
Yacht Club Games are the people behind "Shovel Knight" and the game developers confirmed in the official Playstation blog that the Kratos will not be a playable character. Instead, he has been made into a tough, evil boss with whom players have to compete against using the knight and win the round.
David D'Angelo from the team said that Kratos will not be an easy find. "Instead of making him readily available as a boss in a new level, we have hidden him among other things. Players have to be really sharp and unlock every secret, sometimes multiple layers of secret items so as to finally battle with the God of War himself," he added.
The theme of "God of War" has been turned into an 8-bit retro style soundtrack which is now available on Soundcloud. The developers have also released teaser images of Kratos in action, reported Polygon.
