OnLive which came as a true revolution to the world of gaming took over the industry in almost no time with its state-of-the-art facilities. Any individual who possessed a basic PC or a micro console can enter the cloud and play. OnLive, a contemporary of Citrix, is a network-based gaming platform and managed to over take it in almost no time.
OnLive was founded by Steve Perlman debuted in 2007, but first ran into trouble in 2012 on account of financial bankruptcy wherein it was saved by the Lauder Brothers and its affiliates. Under the leadership of Gary Lauder retained some of its features; however, it was integrated with PlayPack, which included about 250 games that can be played for a monthly fee. Besides, VB reports that during its first hitch in 2012, the gaming giant had underestimated the number of servers required for its operation and there was gross mismatch between the number required and the number available.
OnLive is all set to join Sony's cloud gaming environment GaiKai, which was launched in 2012 and is rumored to be the backbone of the Sony PlayStation Plus service, which allows users of PS4 play older PS3 on the cloud.
