Apple Watch’s Preview Activity Draws Interest from Chinese Tech Enthusiasts, Consumers

Apple faces competition with domestic versions of Apple Watch that come with a much cheaper price.

Approximately 50 people--tech enthusiasts and potential costumers alike--gathered at an Apple Store in a Sanlitun, Beijing, shopping mall on Friday to join a preview activity for the anticipated Apple Watch.

An Apple Watch specialist shared during the preview that "in order to build a new shopping experience for Apple's customers, we [provided] 38 units selected from the three collections on our newly designed Apple display tables."

The specialist added that beginning on Friday, interested costumers who want to learn more of the newest Apple product could make an online appointment or pay a visit at their local Apple store for a session with a product expert.

The prospect consumers are urged and encouraged to explore the features of Apple Watch.

A visitor from Harbin in China's Heilongjiang Province said that he is intending to buy one, "probably the sports collection." The visitor also suggested that payment could be easier when employing taxi apps as a click on the wrist via Apple Pay.

However, such payment service is not yet available in the Chinese mainland. As well, third-party mobile payment solutions were also not included in the Apple Watch's preview activity.

One of the U.S. tech veteran's experts nonetheless clarified that more third-party applications for the Apple Watch are being worked out for release as the pre-order process for the product commences.

Pre-orders will begin on April 10, 3:01 p.m., according to an Apple news release. Ordering can be done through the Apple Store app, Apple Online Store and key Apple Authorized Resellers in China and Japan.

Customers who will partake in the pre-order process can have their Apple Watch delivered starting on April 24.

On the same day, Apple Watch will also be available in major cities such as Paris (Colette), London and Tokyo (Dover Street Market), Los Angeles (Maxfield), Berlin (The Corner) and in China and Japan (selected Apple Authorized Resellers).
