One of the dresses featured in the 1939 film "Gone With the Wind" was recently auctioned at a whopping $1137,000.

The dress was worn by actress Vivien Leigh, who played the role of Scarlett O'Hara in the movie.

Several years ago, collector James Tumblin, who worked at Universal Studios, sold the dress purchased it for only $20, according to CNN.

The gray two-piece ensemble was sold at a Beverly Hills auction in California over the weekend.

According to multiple sources, Tumblin saw the dress some time in the early 1960s while he was doing some research at a costume company.

In an interview with The Telegraph, Tumblin revealed that the "Gone With the Dress" was about to be thrown away.

"I saw this dress on the floor and a docent told me not to bother to pick it up, because they were throwing it away. I asked if he would sell it to me. I had noticed there was a printed label saying Selznick International Pictures and 'Scarlett production dress' was written in ink," he revealed.

Meanwhile, several other items from "Gone With the Wind" were also sold at Saturday's auction, including Leigh's straw hat that she wore in a number of scenes.

Additionally, the gray wool suit worn by actor Clarke Gable when he played the role of Rhett Butler was also available at the auction.

According to reports, Vivien Leigh's dress as Scarlett O'Hara deteriorated over time. Originally, the dress was colored blue-gray and now it has turned to a light gray shade.
