China has remained committed to taking a larger role in building "a community of common destiny," especially in helping neighboring countries during natural calamities, as evident after an 8.1-magnitude earthquake hit Nepal recently.

The Xinhua News Agency reported that the Chinese search and rescue team, composed of 62 members, was among the first international aids to arrive in Nepal.

The Chinese government said that it pursues the principle of sincerity, amity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness in dealing with other countries, stressing that its vision is not only for economic cooperation such as the "Belt and Road Initiative," but also combines its modernization efforts with infrastructure building in neighboring countries.

The report said that China's rapid development has made it possible for the country to bring disaster relief and aid overseas, unlike in the past when its efforts were mainly focused on domestic affairs.

The report also enumerated the contributions that China had given to some countries, which include the $1 million China donated to Cambodian flood victims in 2013 and the 50 million yuan it gave to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) for disaster response support.

In addition to this, China also contributed significantly in the fight again Ebola in West Africa.

According to the report, the country is fully committed to peaceful development as a stronger China that will provide development opportunities to other countries, as reiterated by President Xi Jinping in 2013.
