Apple Watch Tattoo Malfunction

A tattooed Apple Watch buyer recently shared that his device didn't display notifications and that it would always ask for its password when placed in a dark area, Reddit showcased. A 42mm watch, apparently showed technical difficulties with people who have tattoos, especially when the permanently inked symbol overs the entire part of his left arm all the way down to his wrist, an anatomical area where Apple watches should rest.

Through the same forum, an Apple Insider explained that their watch is using a process called asphotoplethysmography which enables it to detect if it is being worn or not. In the case of this fan, the watch was not able to recognize his pulse reading because it was blocked by a black-colored tattoo.

Amidst issues, Apple has shared that even if both arms are tattooed, it can still work by simply turning off its wrist detection mode. Through following the suggestion, the Reddit user was able to enjoy his device's features even when a few other functions were put to sleep because of a wrist-detection specific mechanisms.  Due to this report, the company is now looking into a more feasible plan other than putting-off the wrist-detection mode. Tattooed watch owners are just one of those groups of users that Apple is currently dealing with.

The Apple Watch in question is, apparently, a defective piece of device produced by a supplier from China, a reason why its availability in the market is still limited, USA Today reported. Some other buyers have to wait for summer to receive theirs.
