The boxing match between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao last May 3rd which was billed as the fight of the century, received very high ratings in China.

The fight received a rating of .6466 percent when it was brocasted for free by the China Central Television last Sunday. It attracted the most viewers in its timeslot, beating popular TV shows that aired in the evening.

Mayweather beat out Manny Pacquiao, continuing his 48-0 winning streak. However, public favor was clearly on Manny's side.

As the fight was one of the most trending topics on Weibo, China's social networking site, outpouring of comments of support for Manny Pacquiao filled the social media platform. Fans thanked Pacquiao for doing his best and being the better fighter.

"I think Pacquiao is the glory for the whole of Asia," said one fan.

In turn, most of those who watched the match criticized Mayweather's technique and general demeanor. The decision of the judges was also vilified and questioned by many who tuned in, and even Manny believed that he won.

One of the celebrities who watched ringside was China's own boxing contender, Zou Shiming. He and Manny share Freddy Roach as their boxing coach. Many fans who watched the mega-fight hope that one day Shiming would fight on the same stage and give the same glory Pacquiao has given his country, the Philippines.

Chinese fans were very appreciative about having to see the fight for free, as it was one of the most expensive pay-per-view events in the United States costing around $80-$100 per connection.
