The South Korean tech giant Samsung has confirmed that it will release an Iron Man Special Edition Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge to tie in with the release of the movie, according to The Christian Post.
Samsung's head of marketing Lee Young-hee said that the color of the Iron Man smartphones will be red. They will hold discussions with Marvel Studio to decide on other details soon. Young-hee further said that special edition Iron Man versions of the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge will be introduced in late May or early June.
Young-hee made the comments after watching the latest Avengers movie in a Seoul theater. The movie was also seen by senior Samsung executives, including the handset division chief Shin Jong-kyun.
In the movie, the products of the company, such as the S6 Edge and tablet PC, are featured, The Korea Times reported. Samsung will use the Avengers for features such as ring tones, home screen icons and wallpaper.
In 2014, Samsung and Marvel entered a strategic partnership that includes various marketing campaigns and deals for both companies.
The mobile manufacturer Samsung believes such partnerships with important content providers can help increase its brand awareness as an innovative product manufacturer.
It is not yet known in what markets the Iron Man-themed Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge versions will roll out in initially; however, the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge are selling well according to Samsung.
Last month, the Korean manufacturer started selling the latest Galaxy series in 20 countries. The sales of the smartphones are anticipated to exceed 70 million.
