The second "Seek the Most Beautiful Families" campaign recently concluded online voting for shortlisted contestants.
Re-launched by All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) earlier this year, the campaign continues its search for the nation's model households.
What does it take for a family to be chosen as one of China's most beautiful?
A key indicator, according to some ACWF officials, is good family traditions. Chosen families are publicized by the federation. Bad behavior, of course, is criticized and frowned upon by ACWF.
The search began when 300 families were nominated from across the country by various women's federations. Internet users, who were allowed one vote each, voted for their favorite families via several Web portals, which included clady.cn, the campaign's WeChat social networking account, and news app Toutiao.
Online voting began on April 26 and recently concluded on Sunday, May 3. Shortlisted candidate families will be announced sometime around May.
Through the campaign, ACWF aims to promote traditional and forward social values among Chinese citizens.
The organization has utilized print and media advertising to endorse the campaign and encourage people from urban and rural communities to join the movement.
One such effort was the ACFW's publicity video, which, through the help of Focus Media, was broadcast in LED screens and televisions on sale all across the country. China Railway's high-speed service from Beijing to Shanghai also aired the promotional video.
The campaign's theme, "Where there is a home, there is family love," was also included on 500,000 posters distributed throughout China by provincial women's federations.
Last year, the "Seek the Most Beautiful Families" honored 100 families as the most beautiful.
