PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 Slim Release Delayed

| May 08, 2015 08:29 AM EDT

Sony PlayStation Network announces discount for five exclusive titles.

The highly anticipated release of PS5 and PS4 Slim may not happen this year, which were initially slated for launch at this year's E3 event.

The delay was confirmed after Sony announced that it will not hold any press conference at the Games Con 2015, which is usually used to announce their flagship consoles and gadgets.

Sony feels that neither the E3 event nor the Games Con event presents them with the perfect opportunity to launch their new flagship consoles. Sony may not be making any launches at the aforementioned events, but there is one big announcement that the company will be making this year, according to their latest interview.

Sony will host the international media briefing at the Paris Games Week which is to be held on Oct. 27, 2015, according to Venture Capital Post. In this event, it is confirmed that Sony will showcase the PlayStation 4 Slim only, but nothing is yet confirmed about PS5, according to PC Advisor.

Sony will be hosting the Paris Games Week, instead of E3 or Games Con and plans to make a major news milestone there. PS4 was able to outrank the sales of PS2 after it reached its milestone sale target of 2 million sales in just 18 months. Sony thinks that since PS4 is still one of the favorite consoles among gamers, they should wait for the launch of PS4 Slim.

Rumors are rife that PlayStation 5 may see an early October release date, as Sony gave a huge hint that it wants to capture the market through its "major news milestone".
