The photo-sharing and storage service Flickr has rolled out a revamped version of its website, software applications for desktop and mobile and search service, according to The Independent.

The updates will allow users to easily upload images without any difficulty and include a new Camera Roll that will let people sort through their pictures by date uploaded or date taken and group pictures into different sections based on their timestamps.

Other significant changes include the addition of auto-tagging and image recognition capabilities. The new desktop software applications has been released by Flickr for Windows and Mac.

The desktop software applications let users upload photos directly from their external hard drives, SD cards, personal computer and other devices.

In addition, users can share a batch of photos through Facebook, Instagram and email and add identifying tags.

The new 'Magic View' feature takes advantage of computer vision technology to identify what is in user photos and tag them accordingly. The photo-sharing site can recognize if photos are sunsets, animals, water, vehicles, landscapes, photos of people, screenshots, photos of children, text photos and architecture.

Moreover, Flickr allows users tap into advanced search tools for searching by several metadata such as orientation, minimum size, date uploaded and date taken. Users can filter search results by color or style.

Also, when a user performs any search on the photo-sharing site, they are first shown a group of their own pictures that match their query, followed by a group of pictures from the people they follow on Flickr, and then everyone else's pictures are below.

The latest updates indicate that Flickr is trying to regain its former glory, Tech Times reported. Yahoo purchased the photo-sharing site back in 2004.

Furthermore, Flickr will be releasing new apps for devices running iOS and Android, which will also get the updates. Flickr has claimed that it has 100 million members.
