Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk has denied scolding an employee for missing an event to witness the birth of his child as mentioned in the new book "Elon Musk: SpaceX and the Quest for a Fantastic Future" by Ashlee Vance.
According to the book, an anonymous Tesla employee who took time off to witness childbirth received an e-mail from Musk saying, "That is no excuse. I am extremely disappointed. You need to figure out where your priorities are. We're changing the world and changing history, and you either commit or you don't."
Responding to Vox, which wrote about the issue, Musk tweeted, "I have never written or said this. Ashlee's book was not independently fact-checked. Should be taken w a grain of salt."
Also lifted from the book, The Washington Post published a quote from Musk's former wife which reads, "I do think of him as the Terminator. He locks his gaze on to something and says, 'It shall be mine.' Bit by bit, he won me over."
Meanwhile, Musk delivered the Tesla Powerwall keynote titled "The Missing Piece" on May 1 at an event in California, where he introduced a wall-mounted energy storage unit device for the home called the Powerwall.
For a price of around $3500, the Powerwall deliver 10 kilowatt hours of electric energy at an average of 2 kilowatts. For business users, a much bigger model called the Powerpack is also available, according to The Australian.
Using tried-and-tested lithium-ion technology, Musk is planning to mass-produce these batteries and to build them on a massive scale at a huge "gigafactory" Tesla is building in Nevada at the start.
