Natalie Portman's Dr. Jane Foster is hailed as the female god of thunder in the eighth issue of the "Thor" comics.

The heroine was unmasked by the eighth issue of the "Thor" comics series last Wednesday, as per New York Times.

Jason Aaron was the writer of the said comics while Russell Dauterman served as the illustrator. "Thor" series issue No. 8 went on sale in both live and online comic book stores and it has been a top book for Marvel.

The comics scribe himself said that the real storyline starts from Foster's act of picking up the hammer, becoming the new Thor.

Foster is the former girlfriend of the Norse Avenger and she has been a pillar since the very start of both the "Thor" comics and mythology. Aaron added that the female "Thor" is set to fight breast cancer in the new comics issue.

Aaron also said the women and young girls comprise a large portion of the comics readers and future comic books will be liked by the said group.

Foster's case is similar with Sam Wilson and Sebastian Stan's status in "Captain America," as per Cinema Blend.

Previous reports say that Wilson's Falcon and Stan's The Winter Soldier have become alternatives to become the new patriotic superhero.

The idea of having another person taking hold of Thor' hammer has been also instilled to the fans in Joss Whedon's "Avengers: Age of Ultron." Indirectly, it laid down the foundation of seeing others being earnest for the Mjolnir.

The option for having a female version of Thor will be pushed if Marvel becomes unable to prolong Chris Hemsworth's contract.

Meanwhile, Hemsworth will be reprising his role as the god of thunder in the upcoming film "Thor: Ragnarok" as well as in Joe and Anthony Russo's "Avengers: Infinity War."

"Thor: Ragnarok" is slated to premiere in theaters on Nov. 3, 2017. "Avengers: Infinity War Part 1" is to hit theaters on May 4, 2018 while "Avengers: Infinity War Part 2" is set to enter the big screen on May 3, 2019.
