"Castle" fans can now breathe a sigh of relief because not only is the series renewed for another season, one of its lead stars, Stana Katic, has already signed her contract to return to the show.
On Tuesday, Katic herself confirmed the news to her thousands of fans via Twitter and wrote, "I am so pleased to announce that, after taking with our new show runners, Terence Paul Winter and Alexi Hawley (both of whom I have had the pleasure of working with on the show before)."
The actress also expressed her excitement over the future of her character, Kate Beckett, in the upcoming season.
"I am excited about the future plans for Beckett and delighted to be returning for a Season 8 of 'Castle,'" she added.
Based on Katic's tweet, her contract to return on the show is only good for one year. This means that if ABC decides to renew "Castle" for season 9, she will once again be in talks with the network and the producers.
Meanwhile, Katic's co-star Nathan Fillion, who plays the role of Castle in the series, has already signed a one-year contract, TV Line reported.
Earlier this month, the show creators confirmed the return of the series after it was previously rumored that Castle and Kate's story will conclude towards the end of season 7, according to Venture Capital Post.
Prior to the confirmation, "Castle" show creators penned the finale episode in such a way that Castle and Kate's character could either have the ending they both deserved or a story that could still go on for another season.
True enough, during the final episode this week, Kate decided to stay with Castle despite previously contemplating about leaving him.
"Castle" airs Mondays at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.
