"Mean Girls" star Lindsay Lohan is back in New York to complete the court ordered 125 hours of community service by May 28. The actress in on probation for reckless driving and has to complete the hours in record number of days so as to avoid jail time.

"So happy to be finally helping out all the kids at @WeAreBCS - I just hope that I can make a difference to their lives," tweeted Lohan to announce that she has started her race against the time.

Although the 28-year-old actress reportedly missed the first day of her assigned work, she did appear at the Duffeld Children's Center in Brooklyn's Fort Greene neighborhood on Wednesday, to start logging her hours. She is reportedly not interacting with kids of the center as of now.

The daycare center reportedly sent letters to the parents informing them officially that for the next few days, Lohan will be volunteering at the center.
