Some rare pictures of the late Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroes are up for auction.

A few of the rare photos of 60s sex symbol Marilyn Monroe, will be put into auction. Recent reports state that the pictures in question were taken just a few weeks before the actress' untimely death.

The snapshots were taken on July 13, 1962, just three weeks before Monroe was found dead in her Los Angeles home. The star's close friend and photographer, George Barris, took the pictures on Santa Monica beach and in her Brentwood, California, home, Mirror reported.

In a series of eight never-seen-before prints, the gorgeous actress can be seen romping on the beach in a towel and playing around in the surf. The eight chromogenic 10inches by 7inches prints are expected to sell for £1,000 each at Bloomsbury Auctions in London on June 4, People reported.

Barris, who had met Monroe in 1954 on the set of her hit film "The Seven Year Itch," originally took the pictures to include them in a book he was working on the life of the iconic actress. The project was later scraped off after the sudden demise of the actress.

Throughout her lifetime, Monroe had a mysterious charisma about her personality, with a rag to riches story. After being brought up in multiple foster homes and orphanages, the actress later on became one of conic figure in the history of show business.

Monroe often remained in news for nudity. The actress made some startling revelation back in 1949 when she disclosed that she agreed to pose as a nude model because she had no money to pay rent. She also appeared in 1953 on the first issue of Playboy magazine, completely baring her breast for the shoot.
