Cleveland Cavaliers guard J.R. Smith, 29, was one of the celebrities recently slammed for complaining about the attention Caitlyn Jenner, 65, is getting. On the other hand, the NBA star appears to have won support from rapper Snoop Dogg.

Two days after the cover of the Vanity Fair magazine July issue graced by Jenner officially came out, which was on the eve of the NBA Finals 2015, Smith posted a photo of Akon on Instagram.

"Shout out to Akon ! He is about to supply 600 million africans with solar power. Im really upset that this isnt major news but that science project bruce jenner is #Society," Smith captioned Akon's photo.

Smith has since deleted the Instagram post but Akon's "I Wanna Love You" collaborator Snoop Dogg reproduced a still-live image of the post on his own page with the caption, 'News flash. @akon tune in to ggn for some real news."

Before the Cleveland Cavaliers, Smith played for the New Orleans Hornets, the Denver Nuggets and the New York Knicks. He also played for the Zhejiang Golden Bulls in China from 2011 to 2012.

Meanwhile, Jenner is set to receive the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the 2015 ESPY Awards for her bravery for coming out in public as a transgender woman. The awards ceremony will be held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on July 15.

About the recognition, Kim Kardashian's stepfather said that she will be able to stand in front of her peers as her true self for the first time, Yahoo Sports reported.
