Filmmaker Spike Lee will lend a hand in the narrative creation of "NBA 2K16." Officially announced by 2K Games, Lee will reportedly be in charge of writing and directing the single-player campaign of the game.

Lee's role in the game is to create the main character and potential antagonists to create a narrative that tells of the conflicts and story of when talent clashes with money. The narrative will play out for a 90-minute cinematic run in the game, USA Today reported.

This element will elevate "NBA 2K16" and its understanding as a game as more than just basketball simulation, but also decision-making when it comes to the real world and success of NBA.

"We follow a kid through the trials and tribulations of being a top high school player and the decisions he has to make," said Lee to USA Today.

Not only will "NBA 2K16" benefit from Lee's background in cinema, but also add a sense of realism to the game. This is due to Lee's love of basketball, being a New York Knicks fan.

Apart from Spike Lee's involvement in the title, publisher 2K Games also confirmed the NBA stars who will also be gracing the covers for "NBA 2K16." Previously, the leaked covers are supposedly State Warriors' Stephen Curry, Houston Rockets' James Harden and Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant. However, it appears that now only two of the rumored players will make it, while the third will be New Orleans Pelicans' Anthony Davis.

2K Games revealed that distribution of the games' covers for the physical copy of the game will be at random. However, GameSpot reported that there is still a way for fans to get the player they want on the cover.

Every physical copy of the game will feature swappable covers of the three athletes. Gamers can easily swap out the foldable inserts according to the player that they feel should take the cover spot.

"NBA 2K16" is slated to release on Sept. 29 on the PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC. Those who preorder the title can get it on Sept. 25 for early access gaming.
