Recent news that "Pitch Perfect 3" is moving forward as Universal and Gold Circle have commenced talks with screenwriter Kay Cannon raised hopes of fans quite eager for a third instalment.
"Pitch Perfect 2" marked the directorial debut of Elizabeth Banks, who also starred in the movie along with Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson. Kendrick's and Wilson's characters are very integral to the story.
The sequel, which has so far made a box-office haul of $160.9 million, also featured celebrity additions, including "True Grit" actress Hailee Steinfield, Movie insiders noted that producers did not discount the possibility of a "follow-up" movie when they signed on Steinfield, The Hollywood Reporter reported.
While Banks and Wilson have stated early on that they would love to delve into the material for "Pitch Perfect 3," Kendrick has been more elusive. The "Into the Woods" singing sensation who caught the acting bug at a young age said she was glad she did not miss out on the opportunity of being part of "Pitch Perfect 2."
In an interview with Glamour, Kendrick expressed that it has been "really nice" to reunite and relate with the cast members as individuals anew. Lots of fans were able to relate with Kendrick's awkward-turned-cool big screen persona Beca. On the other hand, Wilson's character as the funny and talented Fat Amy has also gained a huge following.
In related news, "Pitch Perfect 2" is one of the films appearing as the early favorites for "Choice Movie: Comedy" category of Teen Choice Awards 2015.Kendrick and Wilson are also nominees for "Choice Movie Actress: Comedy" for "Pitch Perfect 2."
