LG G5 Release Date and Specs News: Has Retina Scanner & is Priced at $900?

LG G5 comes packed with an iris scanner and a 20MP camera and is also confirmed to get Android N, upon its launch.

LG G5 release is expected by the end of 2015 packing a retina scanner and is rumored to be priced around $900.

According to WCCF Tech, the retina scanner will function using the front camera of the phone. LG's retina scanner is a major upgrade in features compared to the Apple and Samsung Galaxy smartphones' fingerprint scanner.

LG has a partnership with Irience, which is a biometric-technology company. It stores and maintains the records of LG user's biometric data. The smartphone's retina scanner will function by first scanning the owner's iris. It will then compare the scanned information with the stored biometric data. If both of them match then the user will be allowed access to the smartphone's features.

LG G5 features will purportedly include a 5.6 inch sapphire glass display with a display of over 600 pixels per inch, according to Latinos Post. According to rumors, the primary camera is of 20 megapixels with dual LED flash, auto focus, and optical image stabilization. The front camera is supposedly 5.1 megapixels, which will also work in tandem with the retina scanner.

The processor is rumored to be an octa-core, 2.9 GHz Snapdragon 810 processor. The battery backup for the hardware-rich smartphone will be provided by a very powerful 4,100 mAh Li-ion battery, according to speculations by analysts.

The much-anticipated smartphone may also be released in three different variants. The variants will be characterized by their inherent memory and will comprise of 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB versions.

As regards the pricing of the technologically-savvy smartphone, it is expected to be around $900.
