Samsung Galaxy Note 5

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 that will come to replace the Galaxy Note 4 later this year is still under the wraps. However, the rumor mill is consistently spilling beans on the Galaxy Note 5 features.

USB Type-C

According to Zol, the Galaxy Note 5 will be featuring a USB 3.1 Type-C connector. It is small in design and appears like a microUSB connector, but it is capable of delivering data transfer speeds of up to 10 Gbps on supporting devices.

It can be used for charging and syncing like the current USB 3.0 connectors. Hence, it is expected to replace the microUSB and the standard USB connectors in the near future.

Quite often, users find it difficult to connect devices on the standard (Type A) USB connectors as it only supports connectivity in one direction. However, the new USB Type-C is a reversible plug that can be inserted in the connecting slot in both directions without worrying about the correct side.

Quad HD

Fresh reports reveal that the Galaxy Note 5 will not house an Ultra HD display as it was rumored before. However, like the Galaxy Note 4, the successor model will also be supporting Quad HD resolution on a larger 5.89-inch screen. The older model is fitted with a 5.7-inch screen.

Slimmer Design

The new USB Type-C connectors are meant for slimmer and sleeker devices. Rumors reveal that the thickness of the Galaxy Note 5 phablet will be 7.9 mm. The Note 4 has a thickness of 8.5 mm.

Faster UFS 2.0

The Note 5 will be equipped with UFS 2.0 native storage technology that can be found on the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Plus. The new technology succeeds the eMMC 5.0 and 5.1 standard that allows in delivering faster reading and writing speeds. Also, it can perform read and write operations simultaneously.

Larger Battery

The Galaxy Note 4 comes with a battery of 3,220 mAh capacity. Early speculations reveal the Note 5 will be packed with a bigger 4,100 mAh battery.

As far as other details are concerned, the Galaxy Note 5 on release date will feature an enhanced S-pen stylus and Android 5.1.1 OS. Also, the Note 5 will be powered by a new Exynos 7422 chipset that is predicted to be an upgraded version of Exynos 7420 SoC that fires up the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge, Sam Mobile reported.

As of this writing, there is no official confirmation from Samsung on the aforementioned Galaxy Note 5 specifications and features. Until the phablet is officially unveiled, more and more details are expected to get revealed through rumors. The Galaxy Note 5 launch date is speculated to happen during the upcoming IFA 2015 tech show that will be held in Berlin in September.
