Nexus Smartphone

The anticipation for the Google Nexus 2015 release date further levelled up as a supposed Nexus 5 prototype emerged in Indonesia last week, somehow backing the prevalent rumors that the 2013 device is making a comeback as the vanilla Android flagship this year.

The LG Nexus 5 was shown in a number of images that according to Auto-O-Mobile.com was published in an Indonesian blog post. The device reportedly bears the codename Hammerhead, which was the label that the 2013 Nexus smartphone carried prior to its official unboxing.

The same report indicated that the images made public could mean one thing - that LG has been tapped by Google to resume its Nexus manufacturing duties this 2015 and the device would mostly reflect what were seen two years ago with the Nexus 5. The specs and features, however, would be of today's smartphone standard.

True enough, the Hammerhead prototype shown on the pictures is flexing the Android Lollipop edition, specifically build 5.1.1, though if the device would end up as the next Nexus it is expected that Android M will run the show right out of the box. The same gadget is also imprinted with a 'Not For Sale' label that confirms it is a working prototype.

However, the photos provided held off on key revelations such as the components that Google plans to deploy with the device. One possibility that the details on the matter is scarce is that this particular Hammerhead is for showing off only and not amounting to anything close to the real Nexus flagship.

Two Nexus phones

If anything, this fresh leak seems to get one thing right, at least, that LG is part of the Nexus 2015 project. Recent reports have suggested that the Korean device vendor will soon roll out a 5.2-inch handset that for now is being referred to as the LG Bullhead.

But unlike in the previous years, the Nexus Bullhead will have a phablet twin that will sport a gigantic 5.7-inch screen profile. The supersized device will not be from LG but will come rollout from China with Huawei doing the honors for Google. It is known for now as Huawei Angler.

As can be expected, the upcoming hero phones from Google are laced with top-tier parts, inside and out, but for many hardcore Android fans the upcoming native capabilities are really the things to be excited about. Because Android M is the engine that will bring the Nexus 2015 into life, fingerprint scanner and Android will be on board with the package.

And the waiting game would be over by October or November this year as persistent rumors suggest the Google Nexus 2015 release date will happen within that period.
