Tournament favorite Argentina will have its hands full as it takes on another top contender Uruguay in the 2015 Copa America. The match will be held at the Estadio La Portada in La Serena, Chile on Tuesday, June 16.
Argentina was coming off a disappointing 2-2 draw with Paraguay on Saturday and have managed to score only a point in the Group B standings.
Meanwhile, Uruguay was also unconvincing in its opener, according to Goal. Still, the team tripped Jamaica, 1-0, to earn three points and lead the group thus far.
Gerardo Martino's boys have their backs against the wall in this match as it is somehow a must-win situation for La Albiceleste. They can't afford to lose, as Uruguay will run away with six points for the top spot while they remain at third, and possibly at the bottom, with a single point.
If Paraguay wins over Jamaica in the days' other match, Ramón Díaz's squad will have four points, sending them to second place and a highly probable spot at the quarterfinals. If La Albirroja loses, then Jamaica will earn three points, setting up a knockout before the knockout stage between Argentina and the Reggae Boyz for their game on Thursday.
But all of these complications will be set aside if Argentina wins this match against a very tough Uruguayan squad of coach Óscar Tabárez.
Martino would have to again rely on superstar Lionel Messi, Sergio Agüero, and Javier Mascherano to weave their magic on the field and score goals for the Argentina, as per Football Lens.
On the Uruguayan side, Tabárez has Edinson Cavani and Cristian Rodríguez to try and upset the favorites.
Messi and his gang must keep their aggressiveness for the whole duration of the match and not relax even for a moment if they want to win this one.
The prediction is a hard-fought 3-2 Argentina win over Uruguay. Messi will find a way to make his team advance to the quarters against all odds.
