Apple’s much-rumored 12.9-inch iPad Pro, speculated to be in the works for an October release, will pack a 2732×2048 display with a pixel density of about 263 pixels per inch, according to the iOS 9 code.

The hidden code in the iOS 9 developer beta refers to a resolution of 1,366-by-1,024 pixels, which points to a real hardware resolution of 2732x2048 pixels, based on Apple’s @2x high-resolution modifier.

The iOS 9 code is actually tied to a new keyboard size designed specifically for larger tablets with an entirely new layout that was highlighted by developers Steve Troughton-Smith and Hiraku Wang, earlier on Monday. The leaked keyboard will reportedly feature a new row of symbols and characters, and have the ability to readjust for higher resolutions, 9to5Mac reported.

Troughton-Smith tweeted “Also new in iOS 9 - UIKeyboard seems to scale to a much larger heretofore unseen iPad screen size,” along with a screenshot of the possible keyboard.

The 236 pixel density is similar to that of the iPad Air 2 with a 2048x1536 pixel panel, which suggests that the apps designed for the iPad Air will scale up seamlessly on the upcoming iPad Pro, Phone Arena reported.

The highly anticipated 12.9-inch iPad Pro is speculated to come with NFC, Force Touch, a USB-C port and a Bluetooth stylus designed by the Cupertino. The tablet hybrid, which will most likely run on the latest A9 processor, is also expected to have the iPad-only split-screen multitasking feature, available in iOS 9.

Rumors have it that the iPad Pro release date could be somewhere in the fourth quarter of the year, possibly in October. However, Apple is yet to officially confirm the 12.9-inch iPad Pro.
