Super Mario Maker

The 2015 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) conference included more updates about new Nintendo games than in recent years, when it did not go head to head with tech giants Sony and Microsoft at the annual event. The Japan-based game console giant provided updates about trending games such as Super Mario Maker, Star Fox Zero, The Legend of Zelda, and other future titles.

Arguably the most anticipated new title from Nintendo is Super Mario Maker, which allows users to create their own game levels from the popular series, according to CNET. It will be available only on Wii U.

Gamers have the ability to change the overall visual style and every element within a particular level. They can then upload their finished level only after they have played through it. Super Mario Maker will be released Sep. 11.

Another much-anticipated new Nintendo game is Star Fox Zero, mostly based on the Super NES title Star Fox (1993).  The new edition is being co-developed by Nintendo and PlatinumGames.

Star Fox Zero will feature single and multiplayer modes. The Wii U game controller takes center stage as the player has a cockpit view via a third-party camera perspective.

Another key feature is that ships can turn into tanks. The release date of Star Fox Zero is set for 2015's winter holiday season.

A third much-awaited 2015 video game from Nintendo is Legend of Zelda. While a new rendition of the game will be unavailable for Wii U this year, the consolation prize is Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes, according to NDTV.

The spin-off Zelda game will be released for Nintendo 3DS. Up to three players can enjoy the title in the action adventure genre.

New 2016 3DS games were also announced. They include Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam; and Metroid Prime Federation Force, which could include co-op game modes.

The only 2016 new Nintendo game for Wii U with an official announcement is the RPG title Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem. It is a crossover game that includes characters from both series.
