Toronto Raptors' Lou Williams

Toronto Raptors' point guard Lou Williams is reportedly on the trading block as rebuilding teams Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks, Sacramento Kings, and Brooklyn Nets are competing to acquire the services of the 2015 NBA Sixth Man of the Year, as per RealGM.

The Raptors and Williams are said to be in agreement with regards to the future of the former South Gwinnett High School standout.

Reports came out that the Lakers are looking to bulk up their backcourt to become a significant contender again next season. Aside from the rumored Jimmy Butler acquisition, they allegedly want to get Williams from the Raptors to pair with main man Kobe Bryant in the starting five. This gives Williams the chance to be a starter again as he was relegated to the bench in Toronto.

Meanwhile, Bleacher Report indicated that the Knicks are another strong contender to obtain Williams. New York badly needs help in bench scoring and the 6-foot-1 shot creator could be the answer to one of the team's many woes.

Currently under contract at a little more than $5 million a year, the Knicks could offer him around $9 million to play for Derek Fisher's squad. The 28-year-old Williams is a young veteran who had been in the league for ten seasons. His maturity and basketball IQ could provide Carmelo Anthony all the help he needs to thrive in the triangle offense.

However, a potential flaw on Williams' game is his tendency to volume shoot and to eat up the shot clock before starting every play. It is something that potential shoppers should take into account before dealing.
