Two friends of the former NBA star Lamar Odom, 35, and her former wife Khloe Kardashian, namely Jamie Sangouthai and Bobby Heyward, recently died in less than a week. Sanguothai, Odom's best friend, was 37 while Heyward was 30.
Sanguothai died at a hospital in Los Angeles on June 14. Other reports claim he died of a drug overdose but other reports the cause of death was drug related but it was a flesh-eating disease.
According to TMZ, Sanguothai died of a bacterial skin infection called necrotizing fasciitis, which is caused by dirty needles, and IV drug abuse, chronic intravenous narcotism.
According to the Los Angeles County Coroner, Sangouthai went to the hospital for the infected arm, but the disease, which often becomes life-threatening, spreads quickly.
On June 17, Heyward, a producer and writer, took to Instagram to pay tribute to Sanguothai. He posted a photo of him with Odom, Sanguothai and another friend. It was Heyward's last Instagram post.
"#RIP To my big brother Jamie who always brought light into any room he walked into and laughter as well at all times J you will always be missed. Family for life. #BandOfBrothers #tbt," Heyward captioned the photo.
On June 20, Saturday, the Los Angeles County Coroner's office confirmed that Heyward died but the official cause of death has yet to be confirmed. Odom was said to be "beside himself" as he was still close with Heyward before his death, a source told Us Weekly.
Both Sangouthai and Heyward were close with Odom's ex-wife, who was said to have reached out to the former NBA player. Sangouthai also who appeared with Odom and Kardashian's reality show, the "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" spin-off "Khloe & Lamar."
