The LG company logo is seen following an event during the annual Consumer Electronics Show.

Rumors claim that LG is planning to release the LG G4 Pro in the coming months. Lackluster sales performance of the LG G4 smartphone has prompted the South Korean-based company to release an updated and upgraded version of the device which is expected to directly compete with Samsung's S series devices as well as Apple's iPhones.

According to Vine Report, the LG G4 Pro will have an upgraded 5.8-inch screen which is slightly bigger compared to the G4's 5.5-inch display. The upgraded screen is reported to support 1440x2570 Quad HD IPS quantum display. LG's quantum display technology is well-known for its enhanced brightness, color and contrast.

Aside from the upgrade done for the LG G4's display, the company is also working to upgrade the smartphone's camera. According to Tech Radar, the LG G4 Pro will sport an upgraded 27 megapixel rear camera which is a significant update compared to the LG G4's 16 megapixel camera. The LG G4 Pro's front camera is still 8 megapixels.

LG G4 Pro will have an upgraded 4GB internal memory. This is a significant upgrade from the 3 gigabyte memory of the LG G4. The upgraded RAM will make the LG G4 Pro a suitable device for multitasking and apps that require massive amounts of memory to run.

For its operating system, the LG G4 Pro is rumored to run on the latest Android Lollipop 5.1.

The LG G4 Pro will also come in two models in terms of storage option. LG is expected to release a 32GB and 64GB model. For storage conscious users, the LG G4 Pro can support expansion of up to 128GB through the microSD card slot.

Many were disappointed with LG G4's Snapdragon 808 processor performance. In order to remedy this, LG is rumored to use the more powerful Snapdragon 820 processor for the Pro version of its G4 smartphone. The powerful processor is backed-up by the 3,000 mAh removable battery equipped with Quick Charge 2.0 technology.
