NFL Trade Rumors: Fletcher Cox Not Concerned About Trade Chatters

Philadelphia Eagles' defensive end Fletcher Cox

Prior to last April's NFL Draft, Philadelphia Eagles' defensive end Fletcher Cox overheard his name being dangled as part of a trade package to offer the Tennessee Titans in exchange for their second overall draft pick, which is anticipated to be used to select college star quarterback Marcus Mariota.

In the end, the Titans kept their pick and actually selected Mariota at no. 2, who is now in the running to be the team's starting signal caller. But all is not lost for Philadelphia as Sam Bradford is reportedly healing properly, and they also got Mark Sanchez, Tim Tebow, and Matt Barkley as backups if in case he would not be available in September.

However, the repercussions of the reactions from those names who were mentioned in the aborted trade were presumed to create disharmony within the team this offseason.

Fortunately in the part of Cox, who is arguably the team's best defensive player according to Fox Sports, the rumors did not bother him at all.

"It would have been a distraction if I was to let that bother me or put me one step behind," Cox told The Philadelphia Daily Inquirer. "I'm not trying to take on step backwards, I want to take one step forward every day. My job here is to play football and that's the most important thing to me."

Eagles coach Chip Kelly rebuffed the rumors involving any of his veteran players being offered to the Titans, even reportedly calling Cox before the draft that he will not be shipped away. Cox is said to be one of Kelly favorite players and he is certainly not going to be on the block any time in the near future.
