Android 5.1 Lollipop is going to arrive soon for Motorola Droid Turbo users. Motorola has already started the soak test of Android 5.1 for Droid Turbo. In order to try the soak test, one needs to register as a member with Motorola Feedback Network.

Currently, the Motorola Droid Turbo is running on Android 4.4.4 KitKat. The arrival of Android 5.1 update for Droid Turbo would mean that Motorola will be skipping the updates like Android 5.0 and Android 5.0.2. However, the features of both the skipped updates will be arrive on Android 5.1, Phone Arena reported.

The reason behind skipping the Android 5.0 for the handset is that it lacks support for VoLTE which is a key feature of Verizon powered handsets, Tech Times claimed. The update will bring the Material Design UI of Android Lollipop, notifications on the lock screen, battery saver mode, Quick settings, Android ART runtime, enhanced security and many more features.

Even though there is no official announcement on the Android 5.1 release date for Droid Turbo users, the upgrade is most likely to arrive by next week for all users. The Motorola Droid Turbo that is exclusively available through Verizon in the United States comes loaded with flagship specifications.

The handset was launched last year in October with Android 4.4.4 KitKat OS. It is fitted with a 5.2-inch Super AMOLED Quad HD display and is powered by Snapdragon 805 chip. The chipset is supported by 3 GB of RAM.

It lack external storage, but comes in two native storage options of 32 GB and 64 GB. There is a 21 MP camera with dual-LED flash on the device. The front-facing camera is of only 2 MP. It is equipped with a battery of 3,220 mAh capacity.
