Star Trek Beyond: Starfleet

With Justin Lin's "Star Trek Beyond" coming to the big screen in 2016, the filmmaker has revealed Starfleet's new logo to celebrate the commencement of the film's production.

Lin posted a photo on Twitter featuring the new Starfleet logo in the form of a sleeve art. The logo is round and contains the fictional organization at the top part. The bottom part prints United Federation of Planets. At the middle of the logo is the arrow-shaped Starfleet insignia, which points upwards. The background of the insignia shows blue dots of various sizes, resembling the cosmos.

The insignia in the new Starfleet logo is different from the 22nd century insignia, as the latter has a simpler insignia that points to the right. The photo was captioned "Let the next Starfleet voyage begin! #StarTrekBeyond #LLAP" and it got more than 2,000 re-tweets and more than 2,000 favorites.

It can be seen that the patch containing the Starfleet logo is sewn on a blue shirt. While the one wearing the shirt is unrevealed, it can be assumed that the shirt is worn by Mr. Spock, who is played by "Hannibal" actor Zachary Quinto, according to Cinema Blend.

Lin is an active Twitter user and fans assume that he will keep posting updates about the film on the social media platform, as per Inquisitr. Lin can utilize the platform in the same approach Colin Trevorrow did in marketing his film "Jurassic World," which is now the highest grossing film domestically.

Aside from Quinto, "Star Trek Beyond" also stars Zoe Saldana, Chris Pine, Sofia Boutella, Idris Elba, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, Joseph Gatt, Anton Yelchin, and John Cho, among others.

"Star Trek Beyond" is slated to premiere in theaters on July 8, 2016 and it will be followed by "Star Trek 4" in 2019.
