Arnold Schwarzenegger Terminator Genisys Both ‘Old & Obsolete’ According To Critics?

Arnold Schwarzenegger returns for another franchise installment of "Terminator".

The wait is finally over "Terminator Genisys", the latest installment to the top grossing "Terminator" franchise, is expected to open on the Independence Day weekend. But poor reviews from critics may leave movie fans questioning if it will come close to it's the previous "Terminator" movies.

"I'm old. Not obsolete" is one of the most striking lines in the movie where an older Arnold Schwarzenegger Terminator makes a return to the plot fighting against younger, newer robot models. However, some movie critics apparently think otherwise.

Negative reviews on aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes described the movie as having "the worst of all outcomes", while others say it is a terrible re-make of its earlier franchises likening it to a "VHS cassette" which movie makers keep rewinding for over two decades now. The site also gave the movie a poor rating of 25 percent.

Schwarzenegger admits that his return to the blockbuster movie scene may be a test of his audience appeal, especially among the younger movie-going public.

Coming from a political stint as California governor, Schwarzenegger has learned the lesson of trying to do what the public expects him to and this he thinks also applies in the entertainment scene where he knows he needs to do a variety of movies that people will likely enjoy, "because otherwise they [audiences] don't show up," he told Reuters.

However, others remain confident about "Terminator Genisys" and maintain that audiences will love it and see Schwarzenegger come back as a big hook as he is "Woven into the DNA of the 'Terminator' brand," Rentrak analyst Paul Dergarabedian told the news agency.
