With Peyton Reed's "Ant-Man" hitting theaters in the second half of the month, "Guardians of the Galaxy" director James Gunn has revealed that Reed's upcoming film is his current favorite.
Gunn posted a photo on his Facebook account and it showed him together with David Dastmalchian, the author of SXSW '14 award-winning "Animals." Along with the photo was quite a long post, which revealed his recognition on Reed's upcoming "Ant-Man" film.
The "Guardians of the Galaxy" director said in his post that Reed's "Ant-Man" is his most liked Marvel film after Jon Favreau's "Iron Man." He added that the film is a "complete blast," a reason why he is so delighted upon watching it. Its light and comical tone also made the director watch the film from start to end, within a sense of boredom.
Marvel is highly confident that Reed's "Ant-Man" will do well on its upcoming release that they let those who have already seen the movie share their thoughts on the film in their reviews or blogs, as per Cinema Blend. Coupled with Gunn's recognition, "Ant-Man" now has higher chances to become a blockbuster.
According to Slash Film, Gunn might be quite one-sided in his praise for Reed's "Ant-Man," since he is also directing a film for Marvel, which is "Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2." Gunn's film sequel will feature the return of the titular team and is labeled as "emotional."
"Ant-Man" stars Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lily, Judy Greer, Abby Ryder Fortson, Corey Stoll, Michael Pena, Stan Lee, John Slattery, Bobby Cannavale, Hayley Atwell, and Anthony Mackie, among others.
Reed's "Ant-Man" is set to premiere in theaters on July 17 while Gunn's "Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2" is slated to hit the big screen on May 5, 2017. Watch "Ant-Man" trailer here:
